Haha, there was definitely a draft for WWII. John Wayne definitely dodged it to be a movie star. How in the hell would I confuse Stalone and Wayne? They weren't even in he same generation?

If you want a true man, true American, that served his country and made movies, and should be president... Clint Eastwood. He was in the Airforce and his plane (headed for the Korean War) crashed off of the coast of San Francisco. He may not have made it to battle, but he definitely didn't pussy out like John Wayne.

Just did some reading on this, and I don't think you are being as accurate as you could be. John Wayne didn't dodge a draft, he was classified 2-A (deffered in support of the national interest) at one point and at the beginning of WWII was classified as 3-A. Pussy out, I will leave that to others to determine, but dodge no. However, he was 34 at the time with 4 kids and not a icon yet. I get the feeling that he regretted no serving later in life. But just because a man didn't serve in the military doesn't make him a traitor, pussy or turn coat. I've never served, so does that make me any less of a patriot then those that did?

wikipedia also had this to say about John Wayne

America's entry into World War II resulted in a deluge of support for the war effort from all sectors of society, and Hollywood was no exception. Wayne was exempted from service due to his age (34 at the time of Pearl Harbor) and family status, classified as 3-A (family deferment). He repeatedly wrote to John Ford, asking to be placed in Ford's military unit, but consistently postponed it until "after he finished one more film",[SUP][27][/SUP] Wayne did not attempt to prevent his reclassification as 1-A (draft eligible), but Republic Studios was emphatically resistant to losing him; Herbert J. Yates, President of Republic, threatened Wayne with a lawsuit if he walked away from his contract[SUP][28][/SUP] and Republic Pictures intervened in the Selective Service process, requesting Wayne's further deferment.[SUP][29][/SUP]

I was wrong about the draft, I've just never heard about it but you are correct there most certainly was a draft in WWII.

There were tons of 30's aged males with wives and kids that served in WWII. Sorry, but regardless of whether he dodged or just didn't enlist, I will have no respect for a man that turned away from his nation's call to service and then profited from movies about the very war he turned away from.

Let's not forget about real american heros like the arizona cardinals player that gave up his contract to play football in the nfl to become an army ranger and then gave his life on the battlefield.

Tons of Americans do their part to support the war without joining. Some buy war bonds or work in industries providing gear and weapons to the troops. Some send letters and care packages to boost morale down range. John Wayne did not. He mad profit Portraying our troops who were down range.

John Wayne can suck it.

What are you referring to specifically? I find it ridiculous that they won't raze a farmers poppy field to the ground so as not to destroy his livelihood, but they have no problems dropping the hammer on Americans for pot fields. Sure it's not America so our laws don't apply. Why is DEA over there then?
