Hello! Psyched that I will be picking up an ACR tomorrow and already started on the train of buying available replacement parts where I find them. I’m also looking into a few things and want to see what others have experienced:

1) I want to SBR it; I see that Templar Precision makes barrel assemblies but they note that they do not include bolts. What bolts will I need? EDIT: I’m a moron; I thought it mean bolts as in fasteners, not the bolt within the bolt carrier. Disregard that part. Will the barrel assembly be drop-in (including all gas components) if I choose the V1 factory QD option? Any problems with the platform if I want to do an 11.5” or 12.5” barrel and suppress it?

2) What are the most common failure points? I’m stocking up on what I find but want to focus on the main problems.

3) any other upgrades besides trigger and metal lower that I should consider?

thank you in advance! Super excited to finally get my dream rifle!

1). No, those lengths should be fine
2). Firing pin, cam pin, piston return spring, the screws that hold in the recoil rails strip really easy, but Templar makes/sells replacements
3). I’d say trigger, metal lower, safety, non-QD trunnion and barrel nut, are the best.

Thank you so much for your help! I’ll be going for a 12.5” barrel then. Thank you for the list of wear items; I think I’ve gotten them all with the exception of the recoil rail screws which I’ll pick up. As far as upgrades, what makes the non-QD trunnion a better option? One of the draws to the platform for me was the ability to quickly swap between barrels. Do problems arise with the QD system?

i personally like the non-qd because I have no desire to switch calibers on the same gun. If I wanted to have multiple calibers I would probably just buy another ACR to have dedicated calibers, but I understand that’s not always feasible. My first ACR had issues with the QD system where it would loosen no matter how much I would tighten it. It also would be pretty far off the zero when removing and reinstalling the barrel. The Non-QD trunnion definitely helps alleviate those issues while also lightening the rifle a bit with is a plus. But to be fair many people have the QD setup and it works fine for them, so it just depends on your rifle and your preferences.

For some reason I see the response in my email but can’t see it here; regardless, I didn’t realize that some people had issues with the QD system, thank you for sharing your experience! In that case I think I’ll shoot it a bit to see how I feel about the QD system and go from there. Thank you!
