Have you ever noticed that great big void space behind the trigger group? Every time I clean my ACR I think about what would fit in there.

Today I put two 2032 Aimpoint batteries in a small plastic bag in the void space. A piece of tape keeps the small battery pack deep in the lower and out of the way. I know Aimpoint Micro T-1's last for five years on a watch battery, but why not? I can't buy ACR spare parts from Bushmaster yet so batteries seemed like a good idea. Plus, this has become my "2012 Book of Eli Scenario Gun" so batteries make even more sense. I only put two batteries inside, but it would fit a lot more small items.

I never really thought about it. I'd want good insurance that it wouldn't become unstuck and wedged up into the action.

Any of the following:

Spare batteries
Spare weapon components
Survival items
Left-over sandwich
Deadly Australian funnel-web spider
Explosive device
Porn (if you're into that)
Appropriate holy symbol
Shard of the All-Spark

... That's all I can think of right now.

Sweet! That's the kind of ideas we need! A whole pron collection could fit onto a micro-SD inside the space. I think the All Spark would turn my ACR into a Decepticon so I wouldn't put it in there lightly...

When I saw the title I thought you ment the void in the grip or enhanced butt stock....

I will not put anything in the space shown. Murphy's law will prevail and what ever is put there will somehow work its way into something and mess something up. ;)

I don't think I would be sticking stuff in that area, which is meant for debris to collect in adverse conditions. Things like that battery you've got stored in there can move into the path of the cycling bolt carrier and cause problems and even damage to the rifle. I don't think it's wise to leave that in there during firing. YMMV.

It was just a crazy/dumb idea. It would have been nice if they could have put a little trap door there since they engineered so many other battery storage spaces into the rifle. But then the haters would complain about the extra ounce it added to the weight of the ACR.
