I need to get this battery pack on the side of the handguard, (for obvious reasons), and that is impossible with the factory tri rail because of the flatness on the sides around the pic rail. I am thinking of going with the MI 12.5 handguard. Can i be sure I won't have the same issue? Any one had any experience there? If i'm going to also have that issue with the MI, then which one do i use?

I also don't really like that is is so long that it covers the gas regulator switch. I like it exposed for quick, easy access.

If anyone has thoughts, please share.

If you were to mount the pack to the sides, would it interfere with the charging handle?

Also looking at the various offerings out there, most other options also occupy that area that the upper flat section occupies. The exceptions would be the Bushmaster Mlok and Squaredrop handguards that have less material in that area and achieve a more "curved" side profile that could allow clearance, but that's just a guess at this point.
