Did LWRC license the charging handle from Robinson Armament? If not is Alex going to sue them over it too? But if I were to ever buy a semi-auto .308, it would certainly be the REPR, given the parts availability for the AR platform. I know the XCR is going to be released in .308 soon as well, but the AR platform is the de-facto "people's rifle."

LWRC is supposed to be planning a big unveil at SHOT

Could it be the rumored 5.56 REPR, AKA the M6A5?

Fingers crossed, because that would be sickly cool!

Anyidea if that a mono rail? That looks pretty slick

LWRC will never have a true mono rail unless they redesign their piston system or rail system. Same is true for the HK416
Thanks for the reply. Gotta admit that I like the mono rail systems. They seem to give a few more options when mounting stuff. From all the stuff thats coming out, looks like its going to be a very festive shot show next year. :)

Mono rails are also more rigid, feature less parts and are cheaper to make.

However, to the REPR's credit, the top rail intersection if far ahead of wear most people will mount anything.

Either way, if LWRC does make the M6A5 as pictured, it will be a kick ass product.

Why would they need to license the charging handle from the XCR?

Both the XCR and the REPR utilize the Israeli-style FAL charging handle. Prior Art.

...i traded in my M6A3 in 6.8 for the ACR...ammo being the big concern...6.8 is nasty...but it's expensive as hell...still got a case waiting for the "adaptive barrel" to show...that being said...lwrc makes good stuff...but switching the charging handle to the side and that's it?...acr's folding stock is a major plus IMO...as well as having all the trinkets like the bad lever and ambi controls integral to the rifle...lwrc? bah humbug....hahaha...as for the "peoples rifle"... the people go for whats cheap and available...ak's, ar's, wal-mart, and mc donalds...

While the side charging handle is good in theory, I think it is not as practical as the AR charging handle. I know, I know. Everyone right now is shaking their head and saying "WTF is ACRFan talking about." Let me clarify. As far as ergonomics are concerned for a firearm, it is virtually universally agreed upon that ambidextrous control features are the most desirable. I personally could care less as all firearms are initially geared towards righty's which is what I am. But in the quest for the ever perfect firearm, I think a left side only charging handle is not a great idea except that you can charge the weapon without breaking the cheek weld, etc. I think the ACR got it right with the side charging handle being forward of the action and up high as well as being ambidextrous. I think the ACR is the first real weapon that I can think of that is fully 100% ambidextrous out of the box. Not even the XCR is fully 100%.

So While I think the side charging handle on the AR is "kewl," I do not think is necessary and I still prefer the standard AR handle which is mostly ambidextrous with the right charging handle.

Just my $.02...

agreed ACRFan...changing one or 2 things on a rifle (charging handle or a candy-stripe on the barrel)doesn't make it revolutionary IMO...kudos to magpul for keeping the stuff that works and redesigning the stuff they thought could be improved...and then welding it together A-team style...i hope the weapons industry doesn't start going the way of wal-mart and cell phones...having to buy a whole different rife cause they changed the charging handle, the battery size, or cause it doesn't shoot blu-ray would suck...hahaah
