I'm afraid I might already know the answer to this, but is there any company that makes the female Q.D. sling swivel recepticles on the ACR, but in a 45 deg. limited arc version?

Whatever you call those things.... they look like they would be a quick change deal, as they're just held in with a screw.

The tangled sling thing is what I'm looking to cure. I have the basic model and got my Magpul rail sections the other day. I thought it would be the cats meow to mount the 4.5" section on the left side forward, then put a light on the front of the rail and a Q.R. Daniel Defense mount for the sling swivel at the back of the rail. Jus' dudn't look right.

Suggestions?

I talked to the rep. at Impact Weapons about the Mount'N Slot. First of all, he was very helpfull and obviously knew what he was talking about.
The mount'n slot attaches to any of the vent openings on the basic handguard. I was hoping it would be a direct replacement for the front receptical already on the ACR but I think the 45 deg. limit factor is a big plus when using the Bushmaster sling.
The rep. said he was going to check out an ACR with the goal of making just what I was hoping for - replacement cups with the 45 deg. feature. Even said he'd put a note in my "file" that if they become available he'd credit me the mount'n slot toward the new item. Nice guy.
About $30 for the mount'n slot.

I was thinking of picking up a couple of those and turning them down on my lathe to replace the factory sockets. I thought the same thing, "Why don't they just make a drop-in replacement?" They'd sell.

I was thinking that the reason they wouldn't fit is due to their height, but I'm just going by eyeballing. The ACR 360's seem pretty tall compared to their product, looks like they have to be to clear the rear edge of the handguard.
On the other hand, if he's "going to look at an ACR" to make something to fit - maybe they d o fit and he doesn't realize it.
Either way, I've got one coming - I can check it out and post if no one's done it already.

Yep, they are way too big in diameter to replace the factory mounts. Just got mine today.

It goes on very solidly to a vent hole on the handguard with 2 screws and washers.

I mounted mine to the rear (next slot back) of a 2" Magpul rail on the left side that is mounted as far forward as it can go. Don't know if it'll work with a light on the rail and a sling. It's a bit tight space-wise. Mounted as it is it interferes with normal hand placement on the forend somewhat, esp. for right-handers left thumb.

Have yet to "shoot it".

I figured it would be too big as a drop-in replacement for the factory sockets, that's why I was thinking I'd have to chuck it into the lathe. I might be a little concerned about how thin I'd have to turn that aluminum for such a purpose though.

In your case though you could figure where would be the best location and drill in a couple holes to mount it wherever you wanted it.

This might just be a shot in the dark, but I was really impressed by the ASAP plate that Magpul introduced. So much so that I utilized it in all of my ARs. I wonder if there was a way to create a simliar system that would accomodate both the Basic and Enhanced ACR. This would do away with all the hang up issues when transitioning from strong side to reaction side. Could be that million dollar idea;).

goteron's 2point sling mount came out pretty nice, I wonder if he'd be willing to try and tackle this one
