Unfortunately for me i live in NY. The problem i am facing is the price of a state compliant ACR here. I have been to 3 different gun shops all want above $2200.00. Just doesnt seem reasonable when anywhere else you can get an enhanced ACR for less. should I just buy it or not? I hate NY!

I know they would be lower numbers produced compared to the standard rifles but I think this is a case of having a captive audience.

Joined forum today....Greetings !

Purchased a " State Compliant " ACR today in NJ.
NICS is closed for Holiday , I have to wait till tomorrow to take possession.
Paper work will be completed in morning and will pick up rifle midday. Marked $2100 ( I agreed at $1999 ) gun was on display, not special ordered.

Welcome to the forum and ACR ownership. Just curious, is the state compliant a one shot deal for all the restricted states, or just NJ?

You are allowed a collapsable stock if the collapsing is disabled. This way you can still use the telescoping properties of the enhanced stock still. There is a guy that makes and sells a kit that will disable the collapse button. I have heard that it is a little sketchy and could possibly break the button. Also hear he is working on designing a revised model. Both are/will be reversible if you ever move to a free state but the current one is a pain in the ass to install and reverse, so I hear. I have made my own that dwarfs his with no possible breakage and installs/reverse installs in less than 30 seconds with tools with no permanent modification. I plan on patenting it and producing it once I can make some time to. You can take a good look at the stock and create your own.

New York rifle requirement is 16" min. barrel and 26" overall rifle length. I am pretty sure you are allowed to have telescoping stocks. Call a local gun shop and ask them.
