Last night after I just got the rifle I checked Bushmasters site to enter my S/N for the recall. It instructed me to call Bushmaster right away.

So I tore down the gun to do the magnet test on the firing pin and the magnet did not stick to the firing pin.

So I called Bushmaster this morning telling them the shop I got it from stated the recall was completed. They looked up the S/N and said they had no records of the recall being done.
I then told them I check the firing pin with a magnet and it did not stick, after that he said the recall must not have been logged and the rifle is good.

Is the recall S/N check even working on the Bushmaster site?

I was relieved I didn't have to send it in.

I can tell you that I bought mine second hand. After doing so, I realized that I had forgotten to ask about the recall.

I ran the check. I was told to call. I called and they said to send it in. While waiting for my shipping label, I decided to put a few mags through it before I sent my new prize out for service. In the first 90 rounds, I had two 2-round bursts that might have gone forever if I held in the trigger. So I guess that validated the check for me.

Believe me, if I didn't carry mine for duty or if it were at least controllable, I would've kept it like that. Liability is a bitch.

Picked up an ACR today, upon checking the S/N on the bushmaster website , I typed in the number and get this as a response: " Watch your toes! Doh! "
I have to assume that someone has hacked they're website and done a little "adjusting" to they're serial number checker?

mine just says "The serial number that you entered is NOT included in the ACR Safety Recall Program"

oh well maybe they will sell the new firing pins sometime in the near future...

I had the same issue, I called BM and they said that they have not been keeping up with amending the webpage even though mine was reworks at the distributor before I purchased it.

Well, I guess they are worried about your toes. One of LT Dan's standing orders was to look after your feet.
