Hey all! Just got to shoot like 30 rounds with my new barrel job by ADCO it was cut to 13 inches and I started with some 223 brown bear primered case and the gun would not cycle. It fired ejected the spent round but did not chamber the next round. Next I tried some federal xm193f 5.56 M193 ball and I shot it with no problems at all. I'm going to try some different ammo tomorrow will post results then. Have you guys had trouble with any ammo I would love some input thanks!

I think Ghost posted somewhere else (or maybe it wasn't him) that he chose 13" because the 12.5" has some problem with removing the gas system for cleaning. I hadn't ever seen that from anyone else, but I think that's what was said.

Well I did the 13 inch route cause I'm putting on a noveske kx flash hider with the pig on it. And I wanted to be able to remove the piston with out removing my flash hider or down road a can. I don't believe this would have worked with 12.5 but I could be wrong. Well I was just wondering what other people's experiences were, I thought the difference difference of 223 vs 556 could have caused it but who knows. Brown bear is junk ammo but my POF ar ate it right up so kinda disappointing that the acr is picky now. Plus last night after I shot a round of the brown bear it got stuck in the chamber I really had to jerk back the charging handle hard to get it out so maybe it has to do with the steel casings ?

Well I just tried 3 more loads: first I did hornady 223 TAP 75 grain and these shot perfect next I shot Winchester 556 55 grain these shot perfect also. Next I tried wolf 223 55 grain and these had the same results as the brown bear didn't cycle , FTF and some of the cases actually got stock in the chamber, the bolt comes back but doesn't eject the bullet cause it seems like the steel case is expanding and gets too tight for the bolt head to remove from the chamber. So far in my experience it seems it's the steel catridge ammo that's causing the problems.

My g36 clone doesn't like steel cased ammo but eats everything else, I haven't tried on my acr yet, it almost sounds like your gas port is barely too small since it cycles higher pressure loads. That's why I made mine adjustable, since no one at the time knew much about sir acr gas ports

I feel your pain bigdog I had my sl8 converted by Tom bostic to a g36c boy was it nice but it hated cheap steel case ammo that was my primary reason for selling it, I had 6,000 grand in that gun and it wouldn't shoot brown bear and wolf very good so I sold it and bought my scar 17 and my acr wow I would never look back ! But the g36c will prolly go down in history as coolest looking gun in my book!

Thanks big dog I was hoping you would chime in! I just got off the phone with ADCO and they said the same I'm shipping it to them tomorrow !
make sure they dont open it up too much, it will use a significantly smaller gas port than an ar15, the 10.5s are around .063 as a reference for the 13" barrel, adco is actually about 45 mins north of me lol, i'd really like to see pics of the rifle with the 13" and pig, sounds pretty cool imo

Ya he'd do another one, he owes me a favor, the problem is the gas port, its about .030 too large, I installed a set screw to tune mine, the barrel I use is a noveske lightweight 10.5" its about 292.00 from rainier arms
