Hey,
Names Joe,
I just signed up here, served a few years in the MD Army National Guard and kind of miss the feeling my M-16 gave me (minus the foul-ups, jams and so fourth). It's been too long without a rifle and the misc pistols and shotguns around the house just arent cutting it anymore. So, with that I started looking into a rifle platform a few weeks ago. I started out looking for a decent AR-15, then I looked into LWRC and finally found out about a "Masada". We'll, now I'm here and the rest is history. It looks like an amazing weapon.
I've read and watched (on youtube) some great reviews and one guy (also on youtube) who is having a hell of a time with his ACR in that he has had to send it back half a dozen times, some gunsmith told him that he shouldnt feed it nato rounds. Misfeeds, failures to extract.
Anyways, I'm on the fence about getting one at this time for a few reasons. 1) I would like to get it with a metal lower, 2) I'd like to get it in A-Tacs and 3) I am hoping that by the time I pull the trigger on it, Mine will be factory fresh and well past all problems and recall issues thus far.
So thats where I'm at looks like an extra sweet platform though. If and when I pick one up I'd like to add a Magpul foregrip, harris bipod, strobelight/laser and optic (on the fence between the Leupold Mark AR 4-12x40, Mark AR 6-18x40 and the nikon M223 3-12 x 42). If you have any experience on these let me know. I heard the Mark AR series uses cheaper glass though. That and being a photographer I noticed the Nikon is much heavier for a similar zoom. Being a photographer and videographer I attribute those extra few ounces to better and thicker glass (just a guess). Quality camera lenses have always been heavier than their wal-mart / best buy counterparts due to better glass (and much less plasic). I also use a lot of nikon photo glass.
If that A-TACS never came out though I might settle for a Desert ACR and dress it out in some black furniture for the 2 tone look. I wish they would hurry up already on the PRS stock.
