The U and S marked gas regulator (that comes standard on the rifle now) should be the option if anything, and then have the H and L gas regulator being developed come standard on a rifle that was originally advertised to shoot .223 and 5.56.

My ACR will choke a couple shots when in "S" (yes, with a can mounted obviously ;) ). And I've also seen others saying the same thing. It bleeds too much gas. I'd be interested to see what can they tested them with because mine is an M41K. If it were a .30 cal can I could maybe see the larger baffle area and internal volume eating up excess pressure but it's a pure 5.56 bore.

The smaller port on the "H/L" regulator I think is probably more of a fix for the current "U/S" regulator without having a confusing situation where the only way to differentiate which one you have is by measuring the port with a micrometer or pin gauge.

Without the benefit of having one on hand to test the theory I'm a little dubious as to if it will reliably cycle in the "H" position, with any spec ammo or without a can attached, if too much gas is bled off of the piston. We shall see. My plan is still to pick one up since it should solve the suppressed setting issue. What it's marked is immaterial I 'spose.

In the Youtube video the port on the U side looks way too big. I just measured mine with calipers at 0.069".

Like others (probably most) here i've shot various makes of commerical .223 and military 5.56 without any problems. I am tempted by the possibility of getting a custom gas regulator for lower power ammo.

Wish they would make a gas reg like the one on the robinson xcr.The multiple settings would cure all of this i think.
agree...they should

Based on a conversation I had with a service rep recenlty, it seems that we the public are not going to probably know what is going on with any of the testing on the ACR GR until after BM closes down. Remington's RD is down in Kentucky and it seems everybody's lips are sealed.

Agreed, multiple settings are better. I have always liked the FAL gas adjustment, infinate within the provided range and very simple. Basically you are adjusting the vent hold size to taylor it to the load being used.
