being a left handed shooter, I recently confirmed what several posters have noted, and that is Tulammo steel cased ammo being somewhat underpowered ejects diffently than good quality 556 or 223 in that it will come back and stike you in the face! (just like the old Colt SP1 era AR-15 before the A2 case deflector) I also noticed the original Masada had an "A2" style deflector that was later changed on Bushmaster produced ACRs and being the kind of guy that wants my three thousand dollar end -all -be- all modular 21st century rifle to shoot what ever I have access to, I decided to make my own solution. I purchased 2 of the blank AR flattop forgings from tactical solutions they had them on sale for $10 each, did a LOT of measuring! and so far it seems to be the solution, the main downside is the stock hits when folded, I would like to hear what my fellow forum members think , especially, you lefties out there!

my buddy has problems with it pelting him with brass when shooting left, i shot left today with no problems

i think the old school remington brass deflector is a little taller than the factory bm one but still clears the stock, i wonder if bm will make a lefty friendly brass deflector soon

I just noticed the scope you have on there. I haven't seen one of those in years. I think I got one in the back of the closet some where. Used to be on my old colt that I worked up in to a Delta Elite model.

I wonder if you could just put a 1/4" plastic square with a longer set screw to make the standard deflector taller. Or maybe even use some washers. I might have to try that, seems like making a plastic triangle shaped widget like on an AR would not be all that hard either. Sounds like a few good rainy day projects.

Or BM could just offer a taller one as an option for $1 so we would not have to futz with it.

I tend to overthink things occasionally- I really like your plastic block idea it would have been alot easier! thats why forums like this are so priceless -the free exchange of ideas and info

Yeah, I'm a lefty and I get smacked with brass out of the ACR no matter what kind of ammo I'm using. Steel cased Russian is the worst but even higher powered stuff will tend to still hit me at least once or twice a mag.

I think the V2 brass deflector sucks! Does the V1 work any better for lefties??? If so and anybody wants to trade I will do so!!!

Well, I kind of made a mess of the situation. I also created a thread on the trading post as well...

But I've also gotten info that the v1 deflector doesn't really help the deflection much for lefties. I'm trying to ascertain if that's true or not. I mean, there's really no reason for me to get one if it's not going to make my life easier. I just figured since it was taller that it should help kick the brass forward and away from my face and neck!

Anybody with with a v1 deflector want to shoot some cheap steel case ammo left handed and test it for me!!! ;) LOL

My cases don't't hit me in the face when I switch to lefty. I have a friend that is left handed and he's shot mine several times with no problems. Mine is a V1 and I usually shoot steel Monarch through it. Could a weak extractor spring cause this maybe?

I'm not a large shooter (160 lbs). When I shoot left, the brass goes over my right shoulder generally. I don't get hit with brass.

2 things I noticed when my buddy shot my Acr and got pelted with brass:

1: he's larger than me by over 100 pounds
2: the brass chanced it's angle when he shot suppressed.

That was all using the V1 brass deflector. The V2 changed the direction on my SBR, I haven't tried it on the factory barrel set though.
