so i felt like going down to the local indoor pistol range to try out my new targets and kick a little dust of the old springfield
well things were going fine shot through about to 19 round magazines and before i knew it the manager was standing right behind me telling me i couldn't use a silhouetted targets because it promotes violence.

i didnt argue with the gentleman i cooperated and purchased some standard targets

i just wanted to see what yall thought

Ahhh the dreaded killer man shaped target................... ::)

I Live in an urban area and the only outdoor range is constantly scrutinized by the press, they have a simular rule about this very thing. I was shooting some .mil "Q" targets which are nothing more then a rounded off triangle, (head n' shoulders) Got yelled at for the very same thing.

Went to the ranges board of nazi's and enquired what the deal was. They basically said that they don't know if a reporter will show up and photograph a bunch of "Black Guns" shooting life like targets for terrorist training. I showed him the target I was using and his immediate response was, "It's human shaped"

This same range until recently would not let you load more then 1 round in any centerfire rifle. Now your allowed up to 5 ::) ::)

The range used to be run by a bunch of bench rest shooting elitists who hated all black rifles, but have found out that there membership dropped so dramatically that they are starting to change there ways.

Owell, they have new board members and are startin to be more realistic with thier rules.

We have two ranges in our area. One is run by the municipality: 10 rnds in the mag, single shots only (no double taps etc), no human silhouettes, no drawing from the holster....the other range is privately owned so as long as your abide by the primary safety rules, you're fine.

This whole concept of "advocating violence" has to be the biggest load of garbage ever. Granted shooting at shapes and pictures of animals are great for simple plinking, sighting in, or teaching little ones how to shoot. However one of the core fundamentals that must be addressed while training for self-defense is Mindset. Train like you fight. "There is nothing defensive about shooting another human being" (non verbatim, Magpul).

My range wont allow them either only the ovals. Can't even use the 5 target sighting ones either they don't want their backards looking like Swiss cheese. Its understandable because there are so many members.

There are a lot more liberal gun owners out there than you think. Our range has them as well.
