Okay, I got my ACR back from Bushmaster today. It came back with two new PMAGs and a new firing pin and spring... the usual. But then I noticed something odd. The magazine release seemed to be sticking. It was acting really stiff. I was playing around with it a lot to try to find the problem. PMAGs, GI mags, 30rd, 20rd, full, empty. Eventually, I ejected a mag and the release button stuck open. I popped it back, but what the hell?

I took the lower apart and found where the mag release was rubbing. I shaved down a little with my knife (very minimal) and it seems to be working okay. Still a little stiff though.

Anyone else having this problem? If so, let me know if you found a good solution.

I know this doesn't help, but this is the 1st time I heard of this problem. Have you looked into the lower reciever where the mag release is? There is alot going on in there when you press the button. Maybe something is wedging itself in there. Sorry I don't have a better suggestion.

Yeah. I took it all apart near the trigger group. I don't think it's the metal parts in contact with the button. I'll have to post some photos that illustrate what in seeing.

Kool, it would help to see what is happening. Unfortunately im at work and don't have access to my rifle to peek inside and try and figure out whats going on. Hopefully it's something simple.

There is an issue with magazines travelling to far up inside the magwell. Maybe that was something done in the way of a fix.
I don't know. I didn't get to play around much with it before I got it, so it might be the same as before but I did shoot it a little and didn't notice anything before.

Yeah, hopefully. I'm at work too. And too busy to get a photo. Damned drunks.

This is exactly why I'm NOT sending mine in. Haven't had any kind of problems with mine. They won't send me a firing pin and spring and I won't send them the rifle.
They said well just be careful. I'm dam sure smart enough to put in a spring and firing pin. Not sure how they screwed up this guy's lower.

If I weren't carrying mine for work, I would've kept it too. Liability.

amen brother...it makes you think someone is hiding another problem...something they may fix while there replacing the spring and pin...or maybe its some sort of legal liability issue where they have to do the fixing...but i'm no lawyer...
...reading about the issue where firing or even charging the weapon could cause a round to go off, i bought some practice brass rounds and regular rounds to test myself...just to see if like the m14 they dent the primer when charging or after firing...but i saw nothing not even a scratch...my m14 came with a two page warning explaining their possible full auto problem, but it was mainly with reloads or bad lots where the primers weren't seated far enough...seemed like most people had the problem with the ACR after 1000rds...maybe thats when the spring starts to loose its tension?...either way i've passed that mark and haven't had one hiccup...not one...no jam...no magazine problems...no nothing...its boringly reliable...so far...

See in the first one how it's off center. I don't know what the deal is but it seems to work okay now that I've shaved down just a little bit.
