You'll need to be specific.

There's the Gen1 charging handle assembly, it is single sided by default.
Then there's the Gen2 charging handle assembly, it is ambi by default and is compatible with caliber changes according to Bushmaster.

The gen 1 should work just fine. It’s going on an sbr’ed 5.56. Don’t plan on caliber changes.

I may be mistaken but I thought the Gen 1 will not work with a 10.5" 5.56 barrel since the gas block is further back and would make contact with the charging handle assembly.

If the Gen 1 charging handle assembly works with the 10.5" barrel let me know.

Carbine length gas system barrels can fit with the original assembly, but pistol length (.300 BLK) doesn't.

I have 3 -10.5" barrels, a 5.56 NATO, a 6.8 SPC, and a 300 Blackout. There is no issue with either the Gen 1 or 2 actuator assemblies with the 5.56 or the 6.8 barrels. Those barrels have a carbine length gas system and does not overlap the actuator assembly. The problem is the 300 Blackout with its pistol length gas system. You will need to insure you have a Gen 2 actuator assembly for it to work correctly.
