Anyone use or have any experience with this scope? Very interested, the only thing hold ing me back from a purchase is the price. I'm just about to finish my bolt rifle build and wanted to start up on my ACR 300 BLK build.
Can you use this with both eyes open. Can you acquire target as fast as say a Eotech or an Aimpoint at the 1.1x zoom? I really like the fact of being able to zoom to 8x power and and seriously considering this on my ACR.

Like I said, I would love a 1-8x with a horse shoe style reticle but there aren't any I know of and certainly none under $1000 that I know of.That's why I am looking at this 1-4x XTR.It's a true 1x and my ACOG also has a horse shoe reticle that I like. Anyway, the link is for a scope, mount and fast fire combo but I'm looking to buy just the XTR and a Larue QD mount. http://swfa.com/Burris-1-4x24-Xtreme-Tactical-XTR-30mm-Rifle-Scope-P45511.aspx
Not banging on Leupold (they make great stuff) but for that kinda coin, I think I would look at some of the european glass maker and their offerings (Steiner, Zeiss, Swarovski, etc)
Most of the the rifles that are at my local multi gun club, have that Burris 1-4x on them. Personally, I run an TA31 RCO. I've gotten pretty good with it up close by ignoring the magnification. I have to, open class looks fun, but goofy.
Below is a pic from a 3Gun stage I shot. The closer targets were pistol, the 3 cactus targets made up of 18 IDPA targets in the back were double tap rifle targets.
At 25yds or so, I had a hard time tracking my double tap hits in each of the -0 zones on each target with my TA33RH because they were so close together.
At 25 yds, sight in on one of those catus groups with an ACOG and all you see is 1/4 to 1/2 of ONE IDPA target, not the big picture.
I love that ACOG but unless you are REALLY good with using the BAC with your ACOG ( which apparently I am not as decent as I thought ) that was a tough stage with a lot of shooting where I got jammed up moving from target to target quickly.
A true 1x with a good FOV even at 25yds would have allowed me to see each cactus in my FOV and move from target to target instead of only seeing the -0 on one target among 6.
That is just one reason I am looking at going to the Burris 1-4x but without the fastfire as it would bump me into Open class and my pistol and shotgun are not setup for open.
The Leupold is nice, it is also expensive. My point is what can it do (for the avg shooter) that a <$800 scope can't? That varies person to person.
I am only offering less expensive alternates for the OP because if he was at a level where NEEDED a $4000 scope, I would imagine that he would already know the answers to the questions he asked so maybe he could save a lot of money and be just as happy.
Yeah, if I wasn't paying for it then that Leupy would be one helluva scope. As I understand it was built with the intent of a sniper rifle support optic. On your average ACR I think it would be overkill but that's just me. In the end get what you want though.
I've got a Burris 1x4 and it's a nice scope that does everything I need it to. I think they also have a 1.5x6 model too if you need a little more magnification.
Nice suggestion JGentry with the US Optic. I'm going to look into it. 1.8-10x power looks nice and might be a good fit with a lot nicer price range. I will strongly consider it. Also noticed Premier Reticle's 1.1-8. I just really like how Leupold's zoom works on this model.
Well I'm not saying that I'm the Bindon Aiming Concept expert, but I'm good enough to be satisfied with the ACOG. Still though, the guys with the Eotechs and other close range optics are still a little faster than us ACOG people. And they suck on long range shots. So I compromise.Btw, yes there are seriously people that use Eotechs...
Ok. Say you were interested... Do you like the M-TMR for 5.56 with just the cross hairs illuminated or the Horus H-27D for 7.62 with a donut illuminated.
I like the donut for quick acquisition but I like the M-TMR for long range. I keep bouncing back and forth. I'll probably end up with the M-TMR just because my Mark 4 is a TMR.
I apologize if I clogged up the server with the huge files. I just though they could be easier to see larger.
I saw the latest Marine Times had an article on them buying a bunch of carbine kits for the M110. They had 16" barrels and Mark 8 scopes. Looked pretty snazzy.
Looks like the Marines are finally stepping out of the (supply chain) shadow of the Navy.
