Now I've been using a Blackhawk Omega Vest for awhile now and it gets HOT. But offers exptional ruggedness and the pouches are well placed (though I have to run the flaps in the pouches because I don't use them, thinking about just cutting them off and adding bungee cords. After seeing alot of the molle gear that's come about over the years I'm growing more and more interested in putting one together. Can anyone give any insight on the pros and cons of the molle vest vs the heavier duty Blackhawks vests. I'd also like the option of adding plates.

Get away from that vest. It severely limits your options and besides having no plate capabilities, forces you to use their configuration.

Does it have the pistol holster on it with the fastex buckle? We trained Tunisian SF in 08 and they ran with those vests using Glock 19s. Whenever we would do transition drills, they would cheat by unbuckling the fastex. Since you can't effectively move around like you normally would "unbuckled" without losing your secondary, why train like it will already be that way when you need it most?

There are better options out there. Buy what you can when you can. Look for pouches at Surplus stores.

TAG has great kit, that's pretty well thought out. They're just a little expensive.

Keep in mind a lot of these companies were first started by PR's who were modding kit for Operators and got out and started making a living doing it.
Rigger's Belt? Designed and mfg'd by a PR at DEVGRU back in the day.

What you say? Wearing a Brand X Delta SEAL Sniper vest doesn't make me a Delta SEAL Sniper Operator? OUTRAGE!

Adding something useful to the thread: Special Operation Technology (SOTech) is another good gear manufacturer. I had their Tomcat/Callahan plate carrier combo back in '05 and loved it. Then I sold it for some reason. Looking back, I may have been an idiot.

I also back up BigDog's statement about HSGI. The wasatch and weesatch are great chest rig/plate carrier combos.

My bad...I read PR as public relations/Marketing Weasels.

And everybody knows that real Delta SEAL Sniper's convert their weapons into controllers so they can use hyper realistic games like Modern Warfare to keep their kill skills current.

VB,

Just a couple questions...

Are you right handed?

Do you carry a pistol?

Do those pistol mags get in the way of shouldering your primary?
Right Handed.

Sometimes.

No, everything shouldered the same. Though that vest is totally different now to accommodate current training demands, and previous learning experiences.
