This is essentially a green laser with a wider beam for predator hunting. Has anyone seen them or used one? Im thinking it only makes the eyes visable of the animal its aimed at but im not sure.

Yea I have one its the laser genetics ND-3. Its awesome, and even better when my spotter is using gen II+ NVGs. We have varmint troubles, mostly fox, around here (we like our chickens). I use it with my savage .17 HMR and it helps identify cat from fox, at least with NVGs it does. Like you said, alone, it mostly just lights up the eyes, but you can still make out a body shape depending on moonlight. But there wonderful out to 250yds.

So I've always wondered- are these supposed to be used more for illumination or targeting or both? given the beam width I don't see how this could serve as an aiming device. What IS the beam width say at 50 yds?

I may have a never issued PEQ coming my way for free. Friends in high places, you know. I may have to give it a go.

Know how many times my peq was effective in combat? 0. I think they are worthless at range. Now a visible laser in CQB. That's a different story.

my friend has one of the laser genetics ND-3. We used it last time we went Hog hunting on my land in Junction Texas. I worked very well can use it as a flash light or a laser pointer. I have AN/PVS-14s and they worked great for it. Had I know about them when I bought my PEQ-2 I would have got one and saved some money, but i got a laser and a flash light in one and can use both at the same time or one at a time. Only down side with my PEQ-2 is i have to wear my NVGs to use it.
