Well I got a chance to take the ACR out to an "open to the public" rifle league at a local gun range (West Coast Armory in Bellevue, WA). It's a league with a regular core group of folks that set up different tactical scenarios in a 40'x40' bay at the range. This was my first time making the league but I've been itching to go for awhile.

So I grab my ACR and my Glock 17 (there's usually a pistol transition) and headed on over.

The reaction I got when i pulled out my ACR was awesome. First off... the RO gave me a hard time. He was planning on going to SHOT and chew out the Bushy folks that he's been running this league with 30+ guys every week and not once had he seen an ACR. Well I ruined his chance to bitch. :)

Second... while I'm looking at a ton of eye candy (decked out ARs, FN2000, Storm, P90, etc)... I get a ton of reaction about my ACR (coyote tan enhanced). I'm told by the end of the night that I have "by far the best rifle" in the room.

Now that makes a poppa proud!

Nice job. I think the ACR is going to start gaining in popularity as it will be seen by more and more folks at ranges, TV, movies, carbine classes, 3Guns, etc.

Indeed. Gotta love it. That range sounds really great. How did you do?
Well... to be honest I didn't do as well as I would have liked. I need to put more practice into changing mags... ate my time up. Accuracy was spot on though. We were able to run the course twice during the night. The first run I hit a perfect 26/26... but my time totally blew. On the second run they turned the lights off. Ooops. I don't have a light. They asked me if I wanted to turn the lights back on for my 2nd run but I thought there was enough ambient light as I could make out the outline of the targets well enough. Problem was without any optics I couldn't see the frackin' MBUS. So my 2nd run time was about the same but I only hit 16/26 (I think I hit a hostage... oops). Need to get a light and some optics!

Regardless of score... it was an awesome good time!

Definitely. My next two purchases... Surefire X300 (or X400 if I can afford it) and a Red Dot / 3x Mag set up. I would love to get a good aimpoint micro but convincing the better half that I need to throw another $1500 for all of this into my rifle would have me sleeping on the couch. LOL

I'm probably going to take a frugal approach and pick up a Primary Arms micro and mag combo. Can get those for $230 for the set w/ mounts. Feedback and reviews are pretty good.

I have an Eotech557 AR223 which I love, I am currently looking at magnification for it. The Eotech 3x mag and mount are nice but the mount swings to the side but does not lock to the side. I think LaRue has one that locks to the side so I am looking at one of those. I was also looking at the X300 light which would be just right. Now to save my pennies.

the x300 is nice, but you cant run troy micros with it on top because they arnt high enough, as to why i ran a switch for my x300, that and it makes it easier for me to activate it from either side, if i try flash it, it usually stays on and "lighthouse's me"

and aimpoint micro's are great, the only problem i had with running an eotech on mine is it gets in the way of the charging handle, i also have to mount it forward to clear my night vision

I was thinking of mounting the x300 on the bottom of the handguard by attaching a little rail piece. The EoTech on mine is mounted right about over where the magwell is and does not interfere with the charging handle. I actually tried mounting it over where the charging handle ends and it doesn't technically interfere though I would not mount it out that far being that I have no night gear. I am pretty sure I could mount magnification in my current configuration if I removed the MBUS
