I know there are a few law enforcement and military on this forum. I also know for an officer you are never really "off-duty". I am grateful for all who serve our country and our law enforcement.

As a civilian or an off-duty officer, do you carry concealed? If you carry, what do you carry and how often?

Me personally I carry 99% of the time. The only time I don't carry is if I'm going to the gym or playing basketball. I just can't carry in mesh shorts.

Depending on the attire I carry either a Ruger LCP or a Smith & Wesson M&P 9c.

In this day and age of modern semi-autos and space age plastics my concealed carry gun is a S&W 640. 5 shot revolver based on the j-frame. (small one) I have carried it on my ankle for the last 25 years. It is the least noticable way for me to carry it. It works for me.

Finally figured out why my left leg is stronger then my right one :D

Navy OCS no longer includes firearm training of any sort. Naval Officers do all of their gun quals as an extracurricular thing. You also can't carry a weapon on base. The appropriate response to all of this is to growl, with a big cigar sticking out of the corner of your mouth, "It'sh a damn traveshty, ish what it ish!"

So I'm more heavily armed off base than on. USP Compact Tactical .45, short mag in the gun and 10-round mag on standby. AAC Evo .45 where applicable. Generally the gun is in a Wilderness "Safe Packer."

When I go someplace where I'm dressed up, Its my Sig P238. When I can dress casual I carry a Bersa Ultra Compact .45.

IMO, the Bersa is way under-rated. I made fun of my buddies Bersa Thunder Ultra .45 until I put it up against my Ultra Carry. Couldn't believe in comparison how much more muzzle flip the Ultra Carry had than the Bersa. Found that I was faster back on target with the Bersa. Bought one and sold my Ultra Carry...

These days compact pistols are of suberp quality and I'm sure would certainly hold their own if needed, but my first choice is to carry a full sized platform that I personally rely on to the best of my abilities in any situation.

I've been carrying a 5" 1911 (Condition One) for as long as I can remember. It usually rode in a Milt Sparks VMII (Great ITW Leather) but have now started carrying in Kydex (Frost Modular Systems). I carry a 5" Kimber RL with Crimson Trace Grips and Surefire X300 in the waist. As long as the gear is of quality it's very comfortable. When I'm wearing simple attire (shorts and T) one would never guess I was wearing my weapon and 2 two spare mags on the hip.

If I'm running to take out the trash or am not dressed to properly carry that kind of load I recently picked up a little SR9C stainless w/ TLR3.
