Broken Firing Pin

5190 Views 19 Replies 11 Participants Last post by  DHwreckage
Well, the firing pin on my ACR snapped in half during dry-fire apparently. When I took it out today to go shooting i got several clicks without a bang and took the BCG apart to find the broken firing pin.

has anyone else had this happen?

Also, does anyone know where to get one? Midwest gun works says they are discontinued.

has anyone used one of these pins yet?? Someone bought one awhile back but never fired it. If you buy one, please let us know how it works, thanks

I actually just got it in the mail. Seems excellent and fits perfect. Have not shot it yet but I will update soon.
I’ve got one on the way, but it’s intended for back up.
Just bought one myself. For $30, I’m willing to roll the dice

Does anyone have a source for steel acr firing pins? I've given up on titanium. I made a one off pin out of S7 and it's lasted this whole time. Ive gone through 2 titanium now. Any shops doing steel acr firing pins?
I couldn't find any online. I just tried out my first titanium firing pin and its working fine right now.
Anyone know of any source? Due to my 7.62x39 and suppressed shooting only I'm getting to the point where I might bow out of the ACR game. Been a long ride for me. I need steel firing pins though.
I'm shooting 7.62x39. Russian ammo has harder primers. Have gone through a few titanium firing pins. Steel pins hold up longer.
The Firingpins.com page for the ACR mentioned that they once made the ACR pin in both titanium or steel, so you could try contacting them and seeing if they'll make/find a steel ACR pin.
My thoughts exactly. Reached out to them over email. Hoping to hear back from them soon. Anyone know anyone from there?
have you thought about reloading 7.62x39 brass and ordering another firing pin instead?
Hi everyone. I'm going to make some steel firing pins using 17-4 ph stainless steel. They will be made in Italy. Let me know if some of you could be interested. I'm doing it cause mine it's broken

I'd be interested in a steel firing pin.
Alright. Now I'm starting to looking for the material (the hard part) than I'll do a reverse engineering of the pin cause I haven't found the blueprint anywhere. After that I'll do some test to be sure it don't cause slam firing. If it works I'll produce some. About import/export do you know if in USA firing pins needs any type of license? Cause here are just piece of steel and I'm not able to get any kind of license
Has anyone had luck finding a firing pin in Europe? They are permit free here, but finding one outside the US seems to be close to impossible. Any help would be much appreciated!

Check the ACR Facebook group, if I remember correctly there was a guy on there from europe that got some firing pins made.
