I have had this problem for sometime, just didnt pay too much attention to it till today.

It does not matter if it is the bushmaster pmags or just reg pmags...

When last round is fired when I'm supporting the magazine up in its well it catches fine but when it is not all the way up in the well it does not catch. I pretty much have to hold the magazine up to its most upward position for it to catch.

I am pretty sure if I extent (make it thicker) the mag release catch thingy inside the mag well so that the magazines will fit more upwards toward the bolt assembly this will solve this issue...

Anyone have this issue?

I would say it does catch sometimes like 5% of the time. but thats not how it was supposed to be.

Any others out there have this issue?

I gave up on trying to contact Bushmaster by email... they suck at responding. i have sent at least 5 emails with no reply...

Yeah. There has been another thread about this, but I can't remember it. It's the mags. All except the very first and the very latest PMAGs will allow the bolt to close after the last round. It's because they wanted to relieve the stress on the feed lips.

They can be fixed by disassembling your pmag. You need to take a dremel or sharp knife to your follower. If you look at the back of the follower, you'll notice a small indent that catches a notch on the inside of the magazine body. You need to shave down that notch just a little bit to allow the follower to rise higher within the magazine. On mine there was a mold mark around the indent that can be a decent reference mark.

Just do a little at a time on your first one until you can't press the bolt catch up any further with the magazine in place. Try a GI mag if you want it to get a feel for the way it should be.

Not QUITE all the way. Here are a couple examples. It looks a little rough because I just widdled at it with my knife. Works flawlessly. From what I hear the newest mags with the grey followers will work best out of the box.

Tackleberry has the solution. I bought 6 emags for my SCAR and they worked fine in it. Would not hold the bolt back on the ACR. I checked and found the follower was not going all the way up to the feed lips when empty. Made the same modification as Tackleberry did and now they all work like a charm.

Bushmaster isn't the only one not answering e-mails. I tried to contact Magpul via e-mail about the followers and other then automated responce, nothing. Seems to be a sad trend lately.

Done. took me good 2 hours to do every mag I had. unload rounds and then grind down, test, and then put rounds back in... took about 10-12 min each. most time was spent on loading/unloading rounds... late I found out I can just take apart the mag when loaded it all comes out from bottom. DOH!

this was the first one I did the others look much better as I learn the trick to doing it.

Thank again Tackleberry23.

No problem bomjoon. It took me a while of tinkering to find the answer myself, but they work perfectly now. Glad to help.
