So far the best I've seen is 1000rnds of AE 55grain 5.56 xm193c for 350 bucks including shipping. that was on gunbroker. Anyone found anything better? Saw a 1000rnds of LC 62grain 5.56 on cheaperthandirt for like 450, too...

$325 - S350 shipped is about the going rate for .223 / 5.56 this week.

I usually deal with ammo to go or palmetto state armory when I buy ammo on-line.

Any reason why you deal with those companies so much? And yeah, I doubt Im going to find good, bulk ammo for less than 32-35 cents a round

Just tryed each one and both have delieved as promised. Also, I'm lazy and they don't require additional proof of age other then online verification. So I don't have to send them additional proof of age. One of these days I'll find someone to scan my D/L and not have to worry about it.

I had a bad experience with steel cased ammo and I'm not running it through any of my weapons again unless its a SHTF situation

I know how you feel, I have always been against it's use as well. But recently I have heard good reports on silver bear ammo. It uses a different coating on the case then traditional russian ammo and seems to have a wee bit more ommpphh as well. Price of brass stuff is cramping my shooting style. :) Hopefully I don't regreat it. This is my 1st bulk buy of the stuff.

We'll see what happens

Keep me posted. If it runs through your ACR well with no stove pipes then I'll consider it for plinking. I can deal with double feeds and the such. Its not going to hurt the rifle. Stove pipe is a different story, especially when dealing with steel casings

ammoman.com does seem to have some good deals. Probably going to order some from them.

I've been using Silver Bear for a couple years now (62 gr hollows). For my M6A2, PLR-16 and now my ACR, the performance matches XM193 - plenty of oomph and flawless perfomance. I verified the casings on the SB I shot yesterday. No signs of extractor wear on them at all. In my exprience, SB is every bit the round the surplus US stuff is.

Keeping you posted..... :)

Had the opertunity to pop 100 rounds of the silver bear thru my ACR today, in a word, "FLAWLESS"

Ammo seemed very consistant, all cycled perfectly. Bolt locked back when it was supposed to and seems to run cleaner then poly / lacquer coated stuff. Very happy with it so far. Only thing I will say negative is that the groups were not as tight as some of the other ammo I have put thru my rifle. If I get another 100 thru without issue, I will buy it again.
