Hey guys.

I posted a thread last week with an sbr ? got some great help, thanks. I think im gonna go ahead with the 10.5 chop and gas mods. But just to be perfectly clear. If i were to buy another complete barrel (16in) and gas tube from BM would i be able to run it after the 10.5 modifications are done. My goal is obviously to be able to run a 10.5 and 16 set up.

thanks man, you will have to use a new barrel for the 10.5"

i'd recommend doing an aftermarket 16" barrel and cutting it down to 10.5", if you do the conversion with another 16" acr barrel you can swap back like normal since the receiver doesn't get modded at all

Which barrel do you recommend bigdog... I'd like to go with a sbr scenario, but want to still keep the original barrel and gas block to keep everything an easy change over...

how/where can you get a second gas block that you can mod for the smaller barrel... ?

the biggest problem is if you go less than 12.5" you are forced to go with a carbine length gas system, also if you go suppressed (aac) it is recommended that you use rockset to secure your flash hider on the barrel. rockset takes 24 hours to cure completely so quick swaps are somewhat of a pita

bushmaster might sell the barrel parts but i've read it was around 350 for them without a barrel, not to mention the backorder which might be a while

as far as a barrel, thats entirely up to what you can afford to use, i personally chose a noveske barrel because i wanted the polygonal bore and a 1/7. the acr uses a standard gas block size but the gas port is significantly smaller, once i get my 2nd barrel i'm going to start measuring everything out (gas port on the old regulator and new regulator, barrel and gas block size-iirc is .75 but not completely sure)

spikes said they wont make any more acr barrels at this time because they are behind schedule on their current projects, that barrel does look really nice though, i'd like to see their 18" version

I don't imagine they sold very many of those ACR barrels anyhow. If the gas blocks and pistons were available they probably would have been better off but people are too hesitant to do anything with their factory barrels while there aren't ready replacements. Bushmaster is dropping the ball on this one. (Freedom Group, are you reading this?)

I like that they have 1:8 twist but the fluting has to go. Turn it down to LW profile and leave the fancy business to the next guy that wants it. Hopefully sometime in the future when the ACR is a little more established Noveske will offer something similar.
