Well.......had a chance to hit the range today with my ACR. Put 200 rounds of PMC bronze 55 grn FMJ thru it, no function issues what so ever. Brings the total round count up to 3600 rounds since new, (Sorry DSM ;) )

I was very happy with the accuracy today, (I was having a pretty good day) The attached picture of the 3 targets are shot from the bench @ 50 yards. (longest available at the indoor range) I was using a CMR 1x - 4x scope set on 4x. The 2 outside targets were 20 rounds each shot within 8 mins. The center target is 20 rounds shot within 4 mins. The 2 outside targets have a quarter laying on the bottom of the red x-ring for size comparasin.

The other attached picture is my ACR in it's current setup. It is an Enhanced with a basic handguard, and a Hi-Lux CMR 1x-4x scope in an American Defense Scout mount. The BUIS are standard height Troys. (HK style front)

Sorry for the lousey pictures, a photographer I am not.

Actually I went again today and shot 200 more. I think DSM is gunna hit me............ :) :)
Let's see, about $350-$370 per 1k rounds..you are now 200 rounds shy of practically buying a used basic ACR lol!

When you get a chance would you mind sharing a write up of your experiences with the platform as it staged through those thousands of rounds? Of course you are welcome to do so after you've reached a satisfied round count...;)

Thankfully, I am able to attend a monthly open range day at work and can grab some practice ammo to take with me, (depending on the range officer on duty :) ) But I have still bought a bunch and yes, I'm starting to feel a lil' ammo poor. :)

My ACR is coming up on it's 1 year old birthday in mid-July. I was planning on doing a lil' write up then on some of the things I have experienced with it. Hopefully some pictures of the wear on the moving parts as well.

Speaking of wear on moving parts after that many rounds .... are you running your ACR bone dry without any lubrication or are you lubricating it and if so, what have you been lubricating?
No, not bone dry. I can't do that, it goes against everything I believe in when you have 2 metal objects rubbing / moving against each other.

After a wipe down, 1 drop on each "U" shaped groove on the bolt carrier. 1 drop on the cam pin where it rubs in the BC and 1 drop worked into the ejector every 500 rounds. I make sure the recoil spring and guide have some lube as well. (usually it stays very clean and relubing it is minimal) Very little lube compared to the way I run my AR's. (they gobble up lube) Basically anywhere I see a shiney spot caused by movement, I lube. Shiney spots that I don't lube for example is where the gas piston bangs on the bolt carrier and I never put lube on the gas piston / op rod, (doesn't need it)

I'm not saying that this is the best way to go, but it has worked for me so far.

Alright cjt, was able to get out to the range with the ACR this afternoon, I'm slowly catching up again! I came back with 6 mags still heavy but it was hot and muggy to beat the band today. The handguard was getting a little uncomfortable to hold too so I figured 400 would be good enough for today.

Did have one stoppage using a Korean made HK mag clone though. Those mags are solid but the followers stick in them. I'm gonna experiment with stuffing a Magpul GI follower in there to see if that helps. The purebred HK mags I've got run great though, in any rifle.

Excellent!!!! Other then the hot n' muggy, sounds like it was a good day. :)

I was going to try some of the Korean HK clones, but to many reports of what you experienced. Hopefully the magpul followers may help. Can't really afford to buy a bunch of the real deal HK mags, they are VERY proud of them!! Especially with a garage full of old adventure line 30 rounders. ;)

HK is proud of everything they make, and rightfully so. I'm yet to see them make something that isn't top notch. But I agree, as much as I would love to have a whole mess of HK mags, thats just too pricey

If it wasn't for a coupon deal at Botach I wouldn't have bought the six that I have. But even at 15% off it was a tough pill to swallow seeing that I could have got 2-3 PMags for the price of one.

Like I said though, those Korean clones are solid. Strong mag bodies. The followers just suck. lol!

My only gripe with hk mags is the weight. I can deal with the weight of the gun generally. The weight of an acr doesn't bother me. But I bet if you went crazy with accessories and the such and then hk mags...boy howdy that thing would be heavy
