I have been really wanting the ACR with the 7.62x39 setup and I E-mailed Bushmaster to see if they could give me any information about the lower ( since I havent seen any info on the AK lower recently). Mr. Eden at Technical support wrote back that "The same lower is used with different calibers that use AR15 type magazines like the C products magazines in 7.62x39 or 5.45x39. "

Are they planning to abandon the AK lower altogether? Has anyone heard anything else like this?

Just like the XCR rifle. It uses the same lower for 5.56 as well as 6.8, 6.5, and 7.62x39. Those calibers can all fit within a standard 5.56 magazine.

It won't surprise me if after mkt companies come out with a lower capable of accepting AK mags... it'll look ugly as sin with an AK mag sticking out of it though IMHO.

I want the AK lower really bad!! I know the 7.62 fits on standard AR mags but at the cost of less round count. Besides how badass would an ACR look with an AK mag sticking out from the bottom.
