Hello everyone. I'm a new member to this forum, and a soon-to-be new ACR owner as well. I'm picking up my enhanced black ACR from my FFL on Saturday.

Quick question with regards to model differences though; what exactly is the ORC version and what is different about it from the other basic models?

If im not mistaken which I might be. Orc was optics ready carbine. I think it may not come with sights. Mine was the state compliant model which has a fixed stock and small capacity mag. You'll enjoy yours. Im jealous of the guys with the folding stock. The enhanced handguard I like but its not high on my list of things to buy. Welcome to the forum. Here's alot of experienced members here.

"You are correct sir" (using his best Ed McMahon voice) :D

OCR stands for Optics Ready Carbine, what it really means is you get the Basic Rifle w/out the MBUS. Which isn't a bad thing for some folks. When I got mine, the MBUS were sold off and Troy's took its place.

Thanks for the replies guys. I've been scouring BM's website trying to determine what ORC meant and couldn't find an answer. Your answers cleared that right up for me.

You're not missing much not having those sights. Lots of people here like the troys. I don't plan on using them much ( supplied mbus) but hey something to sell one day. They are pretty neat but I don't find them comfortable to look through.

Worse come to worse, I could take the Bushy rear BUIS off and stick it on my flat top M4.

I'll probably mount my EOTech 553 on the ACR anyway.

I like the eotech. Is the 553 the compact one? I couldn't fit the back up sight on my ar with the fts mount and my 557 it would hit the collar of my free float tube. Another great feature of the acr upper. Lots of room.

The 553/A65 is standard size, and the particular model in use by the military today. It's pretty much the same as the 552 except mine uses CR123s instead of AAs.

XPS (standard hieght) and EXPS (QD w/7mm riser) are the newer / shorter ones
