Greetings everyone,

Here is my new ACR enhanced;
84.jpg

Just took it to the range for the firsttime today and put about 500rds through it ...LOVE this thing! I wasunsure how i would like the EOTech combo (had never used it before),but but that uncertainty disappeared pretty quick. most of my timewith it was zeroing the the iron and holo sites, and firing fromdifferent positions to gain some familiarity at closer range. Hopingto go back to the range tomorrow to push the distance out. Would haveput some more lead down, but it was also my daughter's first time onthe range today so good times all around! lol

Second pic is the rifle i picked up for my daughter to learn on. Figured it would make for an easy transition to something bigger later. HK 416D .22LR

Take care

I picked up one of the Umarex 416D .22lr's for my boy to learn on. It's taken the place of my MP5SD (SA only) as her favorite gun.

I can't until he's old enough to shoot it.

Welcome to the forum and thanks for sharing pictures of your rifle setup.

I agree that a .22lr rifle is a great firearm for kids to learn on, very forgiving, low recoil and helps teach great basic skills. I have a S&W MP15-22 that I use for my younger ones.

Nice! How does the sight look through the magnifier? is it nice and crisp? My Micro T-1 can blur a bit if you are not focusing your eye correctly.

It was nice but my point of impact was way different with magnification versus without. The reticle was cool but I don't have anything over 100 yards at my range. I love the magnifier. I got a xps2-0 for my acr and ar now. Fits on the ar with mbus better but I love Eotech

Greetings again,

Thanks for the words everyone. Well i wasn't sure how much i was going to like the magnifier but i started to dig it once i really put it into use. I was concerned a bit because when it is locked into place it can still shift a bit, however it didn't seem to be a noticeable issue. The site is nice and crisp through the magnifier and i didn't seem to have any real difference in the impact point between with/without. The first time on the range with it i was only working <50 yards. I will be heading back out this week however to work it through 100/200/300 ...see how it works out and I'll let you guys know how it goes. oh yeah i think it is a 512, i just have the plain reticle.

Well i did finally make it back to the range last weekend and spent some time working at 100yrds. I initially had zero'd at 25 yrds but i decided to move the zero out to 100. I shot about 200rnds of 55gr 5.56 (old re-manufactured stuff ...like 20yr old lol). I did not have any malfunctions and the ammo shot fairly consistent, most of the slop was me as i really hadn't been a regular at the range in like 15 yrs. Once i got tuned in and got some rhythm going i did manage 3 shot 1 inch group at 100yrd as my best group of the day.However, most of my groups were a bit looser but that would be due to a moderate breeze and me still having a bit of rust on the old cogs.. I also shot a rapid fire group of about 10 rounds into about a 3 to 4 in group (pulling the trigger as soon as i got the dot back on the target point, every couple seconds). I still no complaints but i definitely think i will be swapping out the trigger at some point. Also, i really wish there was an option out there for an extended charging handle, but that not a big deal really. I think that with some more skill and some fresh ammo (almost burned through all my old stock) i don't think there would be any issues shooting 1 1/2 - 2 in consistently at 100.

My next batch of ammo is some new XM855 62gr. Based off of the experience you guys have had, what kind of average drop would i expect at 100 by going to the 62gr 5.56?

Also, from earlier in the discussion my EOTech magnifier is an G23.FTS Generation II. I
forgot to see if there was any difference between with/without the magnifier, I only used the magnifier on this trip.
