I am a Retired Narcotics Agent & a Class 7 Dealer with a SOT and I am not here advertising or trying to drum up biz. I can own, use or test any weapon I want, as money isn't an object. So lets get down to brass tacks.
Accuracy testing:
Recently I took the SCAR 16 & 17, The PARA and the Enhanced ACR out to test with all different types of ammo and a QSM Titanium Suppressor and here are my test impressions. First off the breakdown and the quick removing of the ACR Barrel puts it light years above the rest in my opinion. I can go from a 16" Barrel to a 12" barrel in less than 90 seconds! Try doing that with the others!
1. Scar 16 a little lighter and not as accurate as the ACR. The pencil thin barrel really heats up fast in continuous fire. I had 2 FTF's and I did not like the reciprocating handle. For a Gun from FNH I wasn't that impressed and the Gas piston system is more difficult to work on than the ACR. In my opinion the Scar 16 isn't my gun of choice
2. SCAR 17 Regardless of being the bigger caliber it is the PREPARATORY MAGAZINE that kills this gun. Who wants a 7.62 weapon where you can't use a Magpul or a DPMS style magazine and where the cost of the Mags are over [email protected] If I want a 7.62 piston Gun I'll go with my POF. So the SCAR 17 just shot itself in the foot. I wasn't impressed with the internals and the accuracy with using match 168 grn Tap ammo and my Night Force scope.
3. the Para new Piston AR Gun. Not too impressed and it was just a so so AR piston type gun. Not to accurate and expensive for what you get. I moved on after I watched my friend not do to well at 100 yards with some tap ammo. Nikon M-223 scope
4. The ACR Enhanced with a Quicksilver Titanium Suppressor 16" barrel
Scope is the new Nikon M-223 in a 12x zoom with the 600 drop reticle. I had a good friend install a JP EZ Trigger at a crisp 3 pounds and we sighted it in at 100 yards with some cheap Tula 55 grn ammo to start off. Here is what I found:
1. Tula 55 grn FMJ crap ammo shot about about 2-2.5 MOA at 100 yds. The same with Wolf ammo.
2. 69 Grn Match tightened up to under 1 MOA
3. Hornaday 75 grn A-Max ammo shot about 1/2 Moa suppressed.
I cleaned the weapon a little when I switched to the TAP ammo and after 2 shots I was sub MOA and I had a ball hitting a 3" steel plate anytime I wanted for the rest of the day. Plus, other shooters also fired the SCAR and the ACR and all agreed that the ACR was the weapon of choice. More accurate, better trigger, no malfunctions and the Nikon M-223 scope was great!
We then switched over to the 55 grn Polymer tipped match ammo that the Nikon is calibrated for and I went from 100 yds. to 200 to 300 yard shots without a miss and I hit the steel plate every time! I'll report back after the Shot Show on everything I see related to the ACR
