As of the new year, reduced prices have been announced. Additional configurations and accessories have entered the Bushmaster catalog, including an A-TACS version.

We have this ShootingIllustrated.com quote indicating that 7.62x39mm is in the works. We also have this rumor about .300 BLK. We have this interview in which a Bushmaster products manager demonstrates the concept hand-guard. Opinions also remain confident that 6.8mm SPC II is in the works.

Is this the year for the ACR? Is Bushmaster (Freedom Group) about to finally fulfill the promise inherent in Magpul's design concept, of a truly modular, multi-caliber combat rifle?

We can only hope!!

I really believe the recall set the time table back a bit. And who knows what other issues happened that we are not aware of. But I to believe by the end of the summer we will see the multi-caliber part of adaptive realized.

Call it a potential advertisement. If all of these things turn out to be true, it will then be a real advertisement. The ACR as a modular, multi-caliber, mission-configurable device has been vaporware for the most part, the options so far limited to Expensive Version and Less Expensive Version of a 5.56mm carbine. That seems to be changing, though. If all of these reports, rumors, opinions, and "we're working on it" features become real, the ACR itself (as originally proposed by Magpul) will finally be a real thing for us to buy. And that would be wonderful, because the concept is wonderful. And then I'll take the question marks out of my post and really advertise it. After all, while I can't claim to have any relationship with with the Bushmaster brand, I do have a very close relationship with my current guns, and other specific items I own, far more so than with a football team. Football teams come and go, but your handgun will always be by your side. I very much want the ACR to become a fully realized concept, so that I can buy one and love it as much as I love the rest of my goodies. It seems that that may finally happen, judging by the links above. If anyone has further evidence, do feel free to share. Or, if anyone has proof that it's all just a dream, and these things will be "in development" forever, well, tell me that too, so I can redirect my savings. That's, like, five thousand bucks I could spend on something else.

If it's just delays we don't know about, then good, and Bushmaster is very lucky that interest in the weapon has been robust enough to survive a year-long false start, an essentially failed launch.

Oh, and I agree that 7.62x39mm support would be a very important addition to the line-up. After all, it is cheap, and if the Commies invade, it's free! Better than free, even. Like compound interest, invest two bullets, gain twenty.

I think and hope that this year's Shot Show will be evident to the rumors or reports. With all the rumors coming in all at once, it almost feels like BM wants to unveil all the calibers all at once. Only time will tell, and hopefully that time will be in just a week.

Hey, just connected the dots but that handguard was in the owner's manual too. Since both BM and Remmy have modular handguards it makes one wonder what the dealio is. Think I'd like the Remmy version for an SBR though.
