I want to put a 14.5 midlength sabre defense barrel into my acr and have a AAC brakeout permently attached. Will the gas port need to be moddified? I also want the barrel trimmed back a little more since the brakeout is actually longer than 1.5". I want an OAL of 16". And flute the barrel to shave a little more weight.

Has anyone don't this? any known problems?

If the barrel you want to use already has something permanently attached someone like Adco could get it off but it [the Blackout] would be destroyed in the process. The AR barrel's gas port is larger than what the ACR likes so you'd need to do some gas block work with installing a restrictor. Not impossible, but would require some extra work to get it to run right.

If you can, try getting a barrel without the gas port drilled (CMMG will sell their barrels sans port I know) and starting that way.

Don't know anyone professionally doing the work, so to speak. bigdog on here did some work on his gas block when he did the 10.5" barrel. Might check with him.

Be sure to post your progress on the project and some pics when you get it up and running!
