Greetings;
I am new to this forum, this being my 2nd post; the first one was for some reason was removed.
How many forum members would be interested in a complete conversion kit in 762X39, 22-250,
50 Beo, 458 SOCOM. 450 Bushmaster, everything in the box ready to go. 6.5 Grendel 6.8 not offered
Built in California USA using Remington parts, Barrels to start, 12.5" to 18"
Is this sometging you have a legit connection to? It feels like the survey I get when asked what kind of sauce I want for my nuggets in the McDonald's drive through. They have no intent in actually giving me the sauce.....they just want to know what kind of flavored gel I would like.
Point being is I commend you on a contribution to keeping the platform alive. But I've seen these types of things come and go.
oif0709 do not be so negative. I really need to ask who will actually buy conversion kit?
Yes I have the connections to make this happen. Give me 5 members that would actually buy the kit and I will build them.
oif0709 I noticed you have over 1800 post on this forum, that a lot of interest in the ACR, would you buy a kit and what cal.
The 6.8 and the 6.5 Grendel will not be offered because fellow forum members are already manufacturing parts for these conversions.
I have ask, have you ever shot a 458 SOCOM? Crazy accurate, extreme "slam it" power level, just an amazing combo. I see that you watch how many post a person has and you will see that I've been away for some time, but that's because I only have so much time to burn and I've been quite involved with the SCAR-H 17 forum. Do you know of anyone doing a reliable conversion kit for in 458 SOCOM? Thanks!!
James, he is being negative because we've seen posts like this before with no outcome at all. That being said if you are legit on this I'm pretty sure you could sell at least 5 of any calibers. I would be interested if they were functional and the bolt included.
James, If you had bothered to read around the forum, you would see you don't need to have polls, you don't need to build anything. You want a 7.62 kit get a barrel and have Marvin make it. He isn't being negative, just calling you out on the frivolousness of this thread.
You said that the 6.8 and 6.5 are not an option because forum members already make parts for them. The Argo bolt is for 7.62x39. So I'm not following. Also, what forum member is making parts for 6.8?
I would bet money you'd sell the x39 kits. Probably 5.45x39 too. If the ak lower hits the market, the kits will be in demand. I have seen 7.62 kits sell on here before, in fact I have built and sold one. I think an ACR with the ak lower and a x39 kit would be awesome. I however have higher priorities.
Mounted28, frivolousness is a big word, It means not worthy of consideration. if you find this thread to be unworthy pleas do not ready any further.
There is an old saying that you should consider doing. If you do not have anything good to say keep your dam mouth shut
Thanks to everyone who took their time to take the poll on which caliber they would like to see in a ACR conversion kit. 82% 7.62X39, 14% 50 Beowulf 4% all others. So the first kit is
I will by next weekend test fire the first conversion kit in 7.62X39, if everything works out I will have (4 )7.62X39 kits ready by the first of next month. Camera will be rolling.
James, please do not take any of our worries the wrong way. It's sad, but we have seen many people start threads promising parts and such and then disappear. Some of us are just frustrated. I have a good feeling about this one though. I wish you the best in selling the kits.
If I still had my acr is be interested in 7.62/39 but if I recall the gi mags in that caliber can be temperamental? OP my post wasn't meant to slap you hard across the face for contributing. We've just had posts like this on many occasions.
7.62X39 conversion up-date. Got all the parts from BM, SS barrel 16.25 threaded, ASC SS Mag 20rd. Shot 80RDs at Angles Range in LA County. Worked perfectly. Ran the piston system on U did not try S.
This was the first outing just to see if it would work. Next time out we will test with different ammo and the piston system on S. Have a few changes being made at a machine shop. The barrel wire handle will be
a tool rather then a part of the gun. Piston Rod holder is being changed slightly. BM cannot find these two items in their warehouse so we will have to make them .
I will shoot another 100 rds thru the conversion working towards a total of a 1000rds before building another 4 sets.
Through out this forum there is a Neg vibe about shooting a 7.62X39 in a ACR, I know that it would be impossible to change peoples minds; so I have to make sure there is a need for this conversion.
It is the same work to make any cartridge with a base the same or smaller then <.473. and a OVAL 2.30 to work in the ACR, personally I would like a 50 Beowulf.
I'd like a Beowulf as well. The main challenge with big bore barrels is the diameter at the gas block. however .50 Beowulf has been done by one of the Canadian members so it is possible.
You should really post photos of your conversion...
I still vote for 300 AAC Blackout, however I will absolutely buy an 7.62X39 conversion kit also, I vote for 300AAC blackout for 2 reasons:
1: I reload anything that I shoot, no exceptions. I can convert 556 brass to 300 AAC Blackout quiet easily and then I can reload it. I have 20K plus brass cases for 556 so 5K wouldn't be missed. I can use standard AR15 mags - so no need to hunt for new specialied mags. here is why i don't like the other options
22-250 - too similar to 556
50 Beowolf - too expensive to reload both bullets and the amount of powder each one takes is insane - yes its an awesome caliber but not one I would shoot every single week due to cost.
458 socom - I refuse to shoot a caliber that looks like lipstick or an erected penis! ok, on a serious note - this is actually another really awesome caliber to me, like the bewolf but at $1 per bullet just not including primers/powder etc - not something I can shoot every week
450 bushmaster -same story as beowolf and socom rounds but this is slightly cheaper
2: 300 AAC blackout has more power than 7.62X39 and is more accurate than a 556.
and as a final note, I am not intimately familiar with any of these calibers. I have fired 50 beowolf and it was really fun. However 15% of the factory ammo fired but unfortunately caused the cases to crack - something that makes a reloader like my very sad. I have researched 300 aac blackout a decent amount, I have no other experience with any of the other calibers.
Thanks!
