I have got all of the parts to send to Marvin Pitts for him to built me a 7.62X39 barrel for my ACR. The only problem I am having is finding Magazines for the 7.62X39 that are made for an AR-15. it any of you guy can send me or post the link for a company that has some in stock. I got the 7.62X39 bolt and firing pin from Mod 1 Sales and the Barrel from Soto Arms. I would like to get at least 4 mags for it that will work in my ACR.
I suggest gunbroker. Thats the only place I've seen them consistently. The easiest brand to find is ASC. They have a store right on their website, but I have a hard time beleiving that they are in stock.
thanks Smokescreen1030 I just checked there web site but I am not sure if they are in stock or not.I am going to call them on Monday and see what they say if they have them I will get a couple.
I have a 7.62x39 kit, and really don't use it because of the magazines. Holding out for an AK magazine lower. Really hope that one is made. It's beyond my abilities to take that project on myself.
This is just my opinion, but without the same type mag designed specifically for that round, I'd just go 300BLK instead. I know there's an ammo availability issue, but having to constantly clear feed issues just ain't worth it for me.
Regardless of the platform, I've NEVER been a fan of this set-up. M4, XCR, ACR, etc...
Get it to work with AK mags though, and that's a whole other story.
I ditched my AK and bought the Sig556R, takes standard AK mags, has the same operating features except the safety, but its a whole hell of a lot better gun to me. I doubt i'll go with a 7.63x39 for the ACR. But who knows
I had a x39 kit, it was fun, real fun. But that's it. It worked flawlessly, but I would never trust it enough to fight with it or anything. More of just a cool factor type thing.
I now prefer that round in an ak only. I'll stick with .223 right now for the acr, and eventually maybe 300 blk. Not ruling that out yet.
After I did the JB Weld mod to my ASC magazine my 7.62x39 kit was totally reliable. I feel the same as ACR500 though and would never trust it enough to fight with it. I miss tinkering with the ACR. Fun stuff!
Hold out for the Magpul AK mags. I know they claimed they would ship them by last summer, which means that anytime from then until this winter we could expect them.
I'm going to get some magpul steel reinforced ak mags. Maybe one or two of the other ones too. But it's taking forever. I'm still stocking some surplus mags though.
I have a 556r runs with out fail tried polymer mags and metal all run great. And it shoots the 7.62 very well with good brass ammo you can get 1 moa on a good day about 1.5 to 2 on a average day
C-products 10 rounders (xcr pistol mags) are the most reliable ar type mag out There
I bought ten asc mags and one worked fine. The others I had to upgrade with wolf springs.
I also had taken a mag spring out of one of my vz 58 mags to put in a asc, it worked.
But with the c-product-asc drama im not sure if c-products is even a company anymore
