Winchester soft points? LC brass? Evidence of high pressure? Reloads?

Wow. Glad you're okay. Agreed all around that it sounds line bad ammo, but who knows. You've gotta give a go at getting it replaced through BM. Couldn't hurt... At least not any more than it did when it blew up. Thank God you had your eyes on.

    Here are all the parts...

    The bolt and carrier...

Barrel and stuck case. I couldn't find the other half of the case head and I don't see any obvious damage in the barrel...

Reciever and trunion. Again, I don't see any immediately obvious damage...

And my hand. Not much to see after a few days but those little black specks are bits of case material, I'm sure.

My friend handed me the last few rounds out of a Winchester white box. I should have paused when I noticed the soft points and check the headstamps but I was enjoying the day and I trusted my friend.

It turns out that he didn't remember where or when he got that ammo. He doesn't reload but he doesn't remember buying from anyplace like a gunshow. All we know is that it's old since some of the headstamps we recovered are from the Twin Cities plant with headstamps of 1971.

Looks like it mashed the bolt lugs in the chamber. That's pretty serious. Glad you didn't get that in your eyes.
